Restaurant Furniture Fashion: The Biggest Restaurant Design Trends of 2017

16th December 2016

The ever-discernible British public are regularly picking their favourite restaurants based on not the food, but the feel. Decor has always been of the utmost importance, but restaurant design trends are only getting exponentially more important as our society increases its obsession with the visual – the Instagrammable.

With restaurant design trends changing each year, it can feel entirely overwhelming to try to keep up with what’s in and what’s out each year. At Warner Contract Furniture, we can keep up with this for you, and want to share some tips on how to easily accent these changes using your own restaurant furniture and decor.

Warm Materials

Where once everything was marble, subway tiles, and copper, we’re now seeing a shift towards the warmer and cosier side of things. The restaurant design trends of 2017 are showing a taste for materials like terracotta and cork. These earthy textures are bringing a richer, cosier feel to our dining spaces that have been missing in recent years. You can bring this restaurant design trend into your own cafe or bar with terracotta pots and tiles, or by replacing blackboards with the less-cold chalkboard.

Rich Colours

Light, pastel colours have dominated the interior design trends of recent years; these must now make way for much darker, richer colour palettes. Expect to see a lot of opulent, rich greens – the colour of 2017 by all predictions. Whether on walls or adorning every table, you’ll want to weave this colour into your current scheme somehow. If you have relaxed areas in your bar, adding some decadent cushions in rich greens will embrace the trend without requiring a room-wide overhaul, whilst more formal establishments can embrace the colour using tablecloths, lampshades, and even napkins. Plants will also add the splash of colour you’re looking for, whilst giving a botanical feel and allowing you to use the terracotta pots mentioned earlier!

Dark Timbers

By far our favourite of the restaurant design trends predicted for 2017, dark timbers are enjoying an enthusiastic resurgence in popularity. Say goodbye to your blonde wood restaurant chairs and sanded down tables – in 2017, you should embrace more regal, dark tones in your restaurant furniture. We’ve got an exquisite selection of commercial furniture to help you make this transition, such as our Epsom High Back Dining Chairs.
