Case Study: Secondary School in West London

As part of a refurbishment project at a secondary school in London, Warner Contracts Ltd. was approached to recommend and supply a range of cafe tables and cafe chairs for the school’s dining spaces.

The Brief

The school wanted to achieve inviting and exciting spaces where students can eat, relax and socialise. Another important element of the brief was for flexibility as the spaces are often used for other school functions and events.

The school required tables and chairs that were well-designed, durable, and easy to wipe clean. In addition, they needed to provide good floor protection, be easy to move and preferably stackable. Overall, they were looking for tables and chairs that would combine to create a modern, comfortable look and feel.

The school has three interlinked dining areas. Two required 4-seater tables with chairs to fit, plus a conservatory space that required high bench tables with high back stools.

The Warner Contract Furniture Solution

Following an initial consultation, Warner Contract Furniture recommended a mix of standard and bespoke commercial furniture. In total the order comprised 250 individual products to suit the school’s dining areas.

School canteens see heavy use day in day out so it is important that the furniture provided can withstand constant heavy use, is easy to clean and store, and enhances the school environment.

Our Lode chairs are manufactured from hard-wearing, low maintenance polypropylene in a great range of colours so we were able to provide chairs that reflected the school’s colour scheme – black, yellow, and red.

A side room just off the main dining area was given red chairs while the larger room has alternating yellow and black chairs at 2- and 4-seater tables.

In addition, Lode chairs are fully stackable so can be moved around easily as well as stored when not needed.

The Twin Pedestal Flip Top Table Base can support a rectangular 4-seater table top. It is made with contract quality lightweight but strong aluminium. As its name suggests, it has a flip top for easy, space-saving storage when not in use. The legs also feature floor protectors.

Our Twin Ped Flip Top Table base is one of the few available table bases that can comfortably accommodate a rectangular 4-seater table top. So they were the best choice to support our bespoke Grey Nebraska Oak Table Tops H3332 measuring 1100x700mm. These 25mm thick melamine-faced table tops are both heat and scratch resistant and feature matching anti-chip ABS edging.

Our Activ Bar Stools comprise a durable polypropylene shell in a great-looking contemporary design supported by a robust chrome-plated steel frame. The school opted for black but Activ Bar Stools are also available in 15 other great colours to suit a variety of commercial venues.

The Meta Poseur Table Base has a sturdy yet lightweight steel frame which comes in three sizes and in two colour options – powder-coated grey or black. The school chose to match the black Activ stools with black Meta tables. And by placing a rectangular and square table together, created communal ‘bench-style’ working areas.

And to match the look of the other dining areas, we supplied Grey Nebraska Oak MFC Table Tops in rectangular and square sizes.

Client Feedback

Warner Contract Furniture delivered and completed the fit-out on-site in one day – arriving at 8.00am and finishing at 6.00pm. The school was very pleased with the products specified and the service offered by Warner Contacts Limited and placed an order for a further 100 Lode chairs and x30 table bases and table tops for the main dining area.
